Oooo we would love to introduce you to the lovely Laura from Victory Rolls Parlour. I don’t know why, but vintage styling captivates the majority of people, especially brides. Its as if you have paid tribute to the youth of your grandparents, or the somewhat gentleness it invokes. When men were gentlemen and women were ladies who wore hats.. So we would love to let Laura speak about her work, and tell you about her experience and love of all things vintage.
Victory Rolls was founded a year ago, qualified for over 12 years in hair I was on a career break working in retail, I missed the creativity that working with hair provided me and I decided to create a business specialising in my passion, Bridal and Vintage hair styling.
In march this year I took the plunge and left my job as a diamond and watch specialist to concentrate on Victory Rolls full time and I have not looked back.
I have worked with some amazing brides, I have done 28 weddings this year and I’ve loved them all, I love it that my brides become not only clients but also friends and I get to see them regularly after their weddings when they come to the parlour to be pampered.
I have worked with some great photographers and models this year too, I have been involved in some amazing shoots creating fantastic images for my portfolio, from Wartime nostalgia, Film Noir and Ethereal to a great 60’s Mod inspired shoot.
I have started to build up a name on the local Vintage circuit too, I have done several vintage events this year and get to work my Beehivery and Victory Rolls magic.
Ladies now call asking if I’m the lady that does Swirly Whirly 40’s hair, and whenever there is a vintage event on my day is usually filled with creating looks from a bygone era and I love it!.
I have done a few training courses this year but my favourite was going to London to train with Lizzie Liros Australia’s top Bridal Hairstylist, I learnt so much from her and I now pass it on to my wonderful brides with every wedding that I do.
Victory Rolls has so much planned already for 2015 :-
I have lots of weddings already booked, photoshoots planned and I have been booked to do hair at the GCRW war weekend in June which I cant wait for.
I’m going to London in August to do Lizzie’s Advanced course, I am sure it will benefit me as a stylist and give me lots of new ideas.
I’m training as a Makeup artist in the new year too, so I will be able to offer the full bridal wedding day package to my brides.
Victory Rolls first year has been amazing!, my clients, brides, fellow professionals and my brilliant family have made it all possible.
Hope that’s ok
